“I Found Myself Some Wings”

ButterFlyMatted

I took this picture using the macro setting on my camera. I just got a new camera with a 24x optical zoom so I have been experimenting with photographing skiddish animals, insects, and other objects that I normally couldn’t get close enough to photograph. I used levels and hue/saturation  layers on the background and butterfly separately. I also used an unsharp mask on the butterfly to make its markings more distinct. Using the unsharp mask ultimately proved to be the most valuable adjustment I made to the image. I’m pretty sure this falls under the flowers/”fish in a barrel” area of composition discussed in class. Hope you all like it,

Jimmy
