9 Ways to Improve your Portrait Photography

This Web site, as you would imagine, is a list of 9 tips to improve your portrait photography. I think it is a helpful list. I am not overly experienced in photographing people, so any help is good. Also if you photograph the same thing too often, sometimes it helps to get a few pointers to help you try something fresh and new.

American Society of Media Photographers

This is the Web site of the ASMP. It helps connect people with photographers in their area who specialize in specific photographic genres.  It also gives explanation on why you should join as a photographer. I wish there was more photography on the site, and that the site was easier to navigate, but I do like the “Find a photographer” search tool.

A Better Exposure

This is the Web site of an Omaha wedding photographer. I think the photographs are beautiful and that the site is easy to navigate. You can also find pricing on the tab on the left side.

The Art of Photographing Waterfalls

This Web site is about how to take beautiful pictures of waterfalls. It goes through the proper camera lenses and equipment, shutter speeds, tripods, aperture, film, bracketing and composition. It has a lot of good advice, however, it lacks a lot pictures.

Fine Art Photography

This is the Web site of an Omaha photographer, Angela Schumaker.  She does photography of infants, children, weddings, etc. Her Web site is easy to navigate and has a lot of photos available to view. Some of her work is good, but some of her wedding photography is not what I would want for my wedding, there was one shot that was even kind of scary.

Todd Owyoung Concert Photography

Because I went to a concert over the weekend (And didn’t bring a camera), I decided to look into some professional concert photography. One of the Web sites I found on a google search was this one.

The site includes photographs, shows he will be attending and tips for good concert photography.

I like the way he shoots because in most of the shots he illuminates the subject very well.

The one complaint I have is that almost all of the shots on the front page are done in the same angle. This could be due to the fact that he is in the crowd, but I would think he could try something different.

The Obvious Site

This is a site I use quite frequently for tutorials on every Adobe product! The videos are easy to follow and cover subjects from the very basic (like moving photos from a camera to a computer) to using Advanced 3D Techniques. The next time you can’t remember exactly how to convert your 2D graphics to 3D, check out their site.

I want Matthew’s Website

And so will you once you click here

A great photographer, but the design of his site is extraordinary! Clean, uncluttered and interactive! Zoom in and out and revel in the white space (which I LOVE). An “out of the box” way to think about presenting your art to the world wide web.

This is a photography website that I found and it is dedicated to weddings, mainly. But, the reason I chose it was because of the pictures of the rings, still life. I have a hard time with still life and I really like what she has done, especially with the rings. It is unique and unlike anything that I have ever seen. I see various photographers that shoot rings, but not in this way. She is based out of Nebraska, but travels all over to do photography.

Extreme Equipment

This Web site is about the “World’s most extreme photography equipment.” It includes huge zoom lenses, a “camera truck,” an “airplane hangar camera” and the largest polaroid I have ever seen.

Great photo website and with access to the photographer’s blog as well. The layout is clean and easy to navigate. This guy does work for artists, musicians, TV shows and more. He left the graphic design world and jumped into photography with both feet less than five years ago. An amazing artist! And interesting too (check out the blog link)…
